Over 5,000 km of Safely Supported
Underground Structures Worldwide

BarChip macro synthetic fiber concrete reinforcement has been used to successfully reinforce over 5,000 km’s of underground structures worldwide. Our high performance reinforcement was the first synthetic fiber used to reinforce sprayed concrete linings in civil tunnels; the first used in cast in situ linings; and the first used as the sole reinforcement in precast segmental tunnel linings.

With over 120 road, rail and utility tunnels you can guarantee that when you choose Barchip, you choose the worlds most experienced team with the worlds best synthetic fiber concrete reinforcement.

40% Reduction in Precast Segmental Linings Cost

Material, labour and production benefits have delivered a 40% decrease in overall segment costs when using our synthetic fiber concrete reinforcement.

Our synthetic fibers are used as a fiber only solution or as a composite with steel reinforcement. Today, a number of guidelines exist to assist designers with segment design.

Sprayed Concrete Linings
Safer, Cheaper and 25% Faster

Steel reinforcement requires expensive machinery, workers to operate under unreinforced ground and can consume up to 30% of the excavation cycle time.

After switching to our synthetic fiber reinforcement projects have experienced a 25% increase in production rate and ensured workers are never under unstable ground.

Cast In-Situ Linings

Barchip’s synthetic fiber concrete reinforced is used in cast linings as the sole reinforcement or as a composite with regular reinforcement. By eliminating the need for concrete cover it may be possible to reduce lining thickness.

How much time would you save by eliminating steel mesh from your cast lining installation?

Invert Segments – 50% Increase in Production Speeds

Project experience has shown that Barchip’s synthetic fiber concrete reinforcement can increase precast production speeds by 50%.

This increase in production output combined with material cost savings, durability improvements and overall performance increases are driving the switch to Barchip’s high performance concrete reinforcement.

Concrete Track Slab

Concrete track slab allows for increased train speeds, reduced track maintenance and increases the track design life by decades.

Barchip’s high performance concrete reinforcement eliminates difficult steel installation, reducing construction time and cost. Furthermore, issues with corrosion are eliminated and problems from stray currents are greatly reduced.
